Accessibility Audits

An accessibility audit helps ensure that your product works for people with disabilities and the many people who use accessibility tools.

Digital accessibility audit reports

Our experienced IAAP-certified experts will manually review your content for compliance with American and international standards for accessibility. These include the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 508, and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 and 2.2.

You'll get a full report that describes any issues, and how you can fix them.

Our audits come with consultations. You'll meet with our experts who will provide you with practical solutions to your organization's accessibility challenges, problems, and questions.

Our accessibility auditing process

Our auditing process follows careful steps:

  1. How many types of content do you have? Do you have a website, as well as an app for an iPhone, PDF support documentation, and an application that runs on a digital kiosk? How much content is there? Answering these questions helps us to set accurate parameters for the audit.

  2. How do people access your content? What do they do with it? Together, we will document the most important features of your technology and create a series of steps that the average user performs.

  3. Our audit moves step-by-step through your most popular scenarios to evaluate how well people can use your technology. Can people who use various assistive technologies perform every step of the common user journeys? Can they access all the information they need?

  4. We provide you with a prioritized list of issues to focus on. Addressing these will yield the best results for users with disabilities and those who use accessibility tools. Each issue we discover will include screenshots to make it easier for you to share issues with your team.

  5. When assessing a product's accessibility features and compliance with legal requirements, companies and government clients will often ask you for a completed Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT), known as the ACR.

We will provide you with a filled-out VPAT that you can share with any company or government client who requires it.

Many times, when a lawsuit occurs, it alleges that a company has done no accessibility work. With our documentation, you can show the work you have done to make your product or service accessible to people with disabilities.

  6. Our team will help you resolve any issues we discover. We will work with you to create a plan to address the issues, and after fixing the issues, we can retest your product. We can even provide accessibility training for your organization.

Often, companies discover they have many accessibility issues to remedy. With our help in prioritizing the issues based on improving access for people with disabilities as soon as possible, you'll be able to address the biggest challenges first. This will show your organization is actively working toward creating the best experience for everyone.

Why a manual audit?

Automated testing tools can sometimes provide a big-picture view of how accessible your digital content might be. However, these tools often flag false positives that are not issues. Many organizations spend time and money attempting to resolve issues that do not seriously affect the user experience for people with disabilities.

Equal Entry's process focuses on what matters: ensuring people can be successful using the most important parts of your technology.

Manual testing is much more reliable.

In doing manual testing, the tester moves through your content in the same way that a person using assistive technology would move through it. If an accessibility issue blocks the tester from moving forward, then we identify it as a high-priority issue that needs to be fixed right away.
